In this poetic journey through black history, Poet Bruce Strouble, Sr. wants to challenge readers to see and experience where we have come from, what we have come through, and possibly where we are headed. He seeks to honor our heroes and commemorate the sacrifices of those who stood up and stood out for our people. He makes a great effort to emphasize and honor the roles which black women have been forced to take on and survive through. In the end, he wants readers to realize that the struggle continues.
